For designers and professional installers outside of the Charleston area, please follow these steps to ensure a beautiful, lasting result.
Variations in substrate material are natural with the organic materials used in Meander Fine Wallcoverings. Each roll is carefully inspected before packaging, but occasional imperfections, like a faint ink mark or a stray fingerprint, may occur. If it does, we thank you for your grace – we ask that you let us know as soon as possible so we may address your replacement and get you rolling again.
Take a deep breath and get ready to prepare your space. If you’re new to wallpaper installation, start with an online tutorial or two.
When you are ready, start by clearing the area—move furniture, remove artwork, and take down curtains. Inspect your walls to make sure they are clean, smooth, and free from imperfections. Priming your walls is essential for both durability and adhesion. As a novice this is a tempting step to skip but it is vital, not only for the integrity of your walls but for the adherence of the paper. We recommend using Gardz primer to ensure a strong, lasting bond.
Now it’s time to hang your wallcovering. For most of our Print and Handcrafted Texture papers, trim the edges on a cutting table or use a double cut on the wall. Use a level line (a laser plum line, available at hardware stores, is essential) to mark your starting point. Start from the corner and work from left to right. Don’t worry if your line isn’t perfect—walls can be uneven. You’ll have the opportunity to correct back to plum in the next corner of your room.
Pasting the paper first and allowing it to book before hanging usually works best. If you don’t have a wallpaper cutting table, you can also paste the wall and hang the paper dry. If you need assistance, our customer service team is always here to help.
Keep calm and paper on!
